Flowstone cave and castle labyrinth

Today I went to a flowstone cave in the northern part of Budapest. With 19 km of cave galleries it is the second biggest in Hungary. The following gallery is called "snow-white and the seven dwarfs". The big stalagmite is snow-white being about 70000 years old. On our way out of the cave we even saw a bat.

Afterwards I went to the Buda castle labyrinth located under the castle district. There are several caves dedicated to different ages. The atmosphere down there is very interesting due to several installations. I guess that I will visit it again in some weeks during an evening hour since then the visit takes place with a lamp in contrast to illuminated caves during the day.

Elizabeth tower

Today I went to the Elizabeth look-out. This is one of my favourite places around Budapest. It is located on one of the hills in Buda.

Pilis mountains

Today I made a 22km trip through the Pilis mountains with a hiking group. It was snowing the whole day so that the vista from some very nice lookout points was, unfortunately, not very good. Besides that (and wet shoes at the end) it is definitely a very beautiful area with or without all the snow.

Budapest

I am in Budapest since yesterday. I will try to stay here for several weeks in order to charge my batteries. I also want to practise my Hungarian language skills. This is the view from the room I am currently staying in. It couldn't be better.

Lausanne & Geneva

I was in Switzerland last week. Two days in Lausanne and two days in Geneva. Geneva is one of the most expensive cities I have visited. For example, for a simple falafel sandwich which would have cost 2.5 euros in Berlin I paid in Geneva about 7 euros... ...and got food poisoning from it! That's why I couldn't explore Geneva as much as I would have liked. However, the winter and Christmas lights are very nice in Geneva.
